Cynthia Uribe, Administrative AssistantCynthia is one of two new staff members hired in 2004.  She is also originally from Nuevo Laredo, Mexico where she experienced the realities of poverty and the effects of NAFTA.  Her duties include translation, routine clerical tasks, correspondence, updating data bases, coordinating travel arrangements and organizing meetings, workshops and delegations to the border.

Martha Ojeda, Executive DirectorMartha has been the Executive Director of the Coalition for Justice since 1996 and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating CJM programs, to apply the mission of the organization, to promote the work of the Coalition to increase its membership, and to raise consciousness about the realities of living and working conditions on the female and male maquiladora workers on the Mexican border by attending speaking engagements. Alonzo Ugarte, Financial Administrator Alonzo is the second new staff member hired in 2004.  He is originally from the border town of Laredo, Texas where he grew up.  He came to CJM with a clear understanding and commitment to social justice based on his personal experience growing up and the realities he saw in Mexico where most of his family is from.  He has extensive experience in bookkeeping and finances and he is currently in charge of CJM’s finances.  He also has extensive computer experience and updates CJM ’s website on a regular basis.  In addition to working at CJM, he is also attending college for a degree in Computer Network Systems.

The Coalition for Justice in the Maquiladoras

The Coalition for Justice in the Maquiladoras is a non-profit international (Mexico-US-Canada and Dominican Republic) organization based in San Antonio, Texas committed to improving the working conditions and living standards for workers in the maquiladora industry in Mexico. CJM is looking for a candidate strongly committed to social justice to fill the position of Fundraising Coordinator. 

Responsibilities:  Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Fundraising Coordinator will have responsibility for developing a fundraising plan, identifying philanthropic donors, writing grant proposals, newsletters, and creating a strong financial base to implement CJM projects on key objectives in the economic justice work of the coalition and the for the CJM Publications.

Qualifications:
·         - Commitment to social justice work 
·         - Experience or knowledge of fundraising 
·         - Knowledge of global economic issues.
·         - Knowledge of and interest in trade issues affecting maquiladora workers in Mexico
·         - Familiarity with the Mexico/U.S. border region and knowledge of maquiladora issues and their relation to NAFTA
·         - Bilingual preferred:  oral and written English and Spanish 
·         - Willingness to travel and work occasionally on weekends
·         - Communication, research, evaluation and planning skills
·         - Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other staff
·         - Database management skills
·         - Computer skills: Word, Publisher, Excel or other database programs, internet
